How Does Doppler Z-MLE Work?

Doppler Z-MLE works based on special evaluation of image contrast. True wall thickness is obtained using a proprietary Varex Imaging algorithm.

The IQ Intelligent Software has simple tools such as “Area Profile” which provide the statistics of wall loss measurements in an area of concern.

The Doppler Z-MLE tool has demonstrated accuracy of +/= 10% wall loss measured.
Advantages for Varex Imaging Customers

Inspectors can now access more comprehensive wall-loss information across the entire radiograph. This provides data to foster optimized decision making and faster fit-for-service calculations.

With Doppler Z-MLE, it is possible to convert an entire radiograph into a wall loss map, with color-coding that allows radiographers to determine accurate wall loss data in real-time.

Doppler Z-MLE is designed with flexibility in mind, such as the ability to easily update and expand the pipe library, even on-site.

With Doppler Z-MLE, our partners can quickly and accurately determine loss of material, remaining life and overall mechanical integrity/asset health in a single exposure.
Technology at The Heart of Doppler Z-MLE

Doppler Z-MLE allows quantification of wall loss on pipes without removing insulation which is a requisite for other inspection methods.

Doppler Z-MLE results can be obtained immediately in field after the radiograph is acquired

The Doppler Z-MLE tool is available for a wide variety of pipe sizes and schedules from 2” to 24”.

Doppler Z-MLE can produce results with an accuracy of +/- 10% even in the areas of scabs.
