Our X-Ray and photon counting detectors are designed to meet a broad spectrum of imaging applications in the industrial and security industries. Varex Imaging X-ray detectors prevent geometric distortion and minimize the effects of magnetic fields and radiation. The technology found in our detectors allows our customers to take full advantage of superior digital image quality and high throughput and CT capabilities. These detectors present a uniform, undistorted, high-resolution image throughout the field of view, enabling technicians to take images of the internal structures of objects such as electronic circuits and mechanical parts.

CBCT Software –
Varex Imaging, a leading supplier of flat panel x-ray detectors used for 2D and 3D imaging, provides a companion image processing library with correction algorithms that are physics-based corrections and both Feldkamp and Statistical CBCT reconstruction in an easy-to-use software toolkit: CBCT Software Tools, or CST for short.
CST comprises a suite of Windows-based software libraries that enables OEMs to quickly develop software that produces high-quality 2D images or 3D reconstructions for industrial applications. Scattered radiation from the part, room, and detector impacts the achievable image fidelity as contrast is reduced, and resolution is degraded. CST has scatter correction algorithms, 2D and 3D VSharp™, as well as a machine learning-based, scatter algorithm that significantly improves image quality in radiography and reconstructed images at industrial x-ray energies. In addition, a multi-material beam hardening algorithm reduces the cupping artifact seen in 3D reconstructed images and improves CT number uniformity. And REA, our resolution enhancement algorithm, removes the impact of scintillator light spread, producing crisper, higher resolution images.
Our tomographic reconstruction software encapsulates individual processing steps into separate plugins. Thus, a host application can use any or all of the plugins provided. At the heart of our cone beam imaging software is the Image Processing Pipeline for simplified integration with parameters stored in standard XML files. This library manages the available plugins and acts as the single interface between an OEM host application and the CST plugins.
Image Processing Pipeline Library Features
• A stable, easy to use API supporting both .NET and C++ host applications
• Over 25 Years, Varex Imaging supplied image processing plugins.
• Supports different panels, geometries, and scan types
• Supports simultaneous acquisition and reconstruction processing

Mammography & Tomosynthesis
Mammography and 3D mammography (also known as tomosynthesis) is a specific type of X-ray imaging that uses a low dose X-ray specially designed for creating detailed images of the breast known as mammograms. Mammography is used as a screening tool to detect early breast cancer in women without signs or symptoms of breast disease or to diagnose breast disease in women with symptoms such as a lump, pain, or discharge.
Varex Imaging X-ray tubes have been used to complete about a billion mammograms. Our tubes are designed for high contrast, consistent radiation emission, and quiet operation. Today we are supporting an advance in digital mammography with a new tube that uses less radiation to show abnormalities in the breast with greater clarity and depth than ever.
Varex Imaging partners with leading OEMs to provide X-ray tubes designed to produce high contrast and lower radiation. Our newer digital X-ray tubes can be used with standard three-inch inserts and feature fan or liquid-cooled housing for higher heat dissipation rates.
Our mammography X-ray detectors were designed for full-field digital mammography (FFDM). These panels have compact, more comfortable designs that incorporate a narrower edge, enabling radiologists to acquire highly detailed images close to the chest wall quickly. In addition to more compact designs, our X-Ray detectors are low dose and feature high-frequency detector quantum efficiency (DQE) for excellent image quality.
For specialized breast imaging software, Varex Imaging offers MeVis software through MeVis Medical Solutions AG. MeVis software analyzes and presents images from mammography screening to support an earlier, faster, and more reliable diagnosis.
To complete your mammography and tomosynthesis system, Varex Imaging also offers high voltage connectors.

Mammography & Tomosynthesis > X-ray Detectors
Varex Imaging X-ray detectors for digital radiography work by converting the X-rays that strike its surface into light and then turning the light into electronic data that a computer can display as a high-quality digital image.
Our X-ray detectors combine the best in amorphous silicon sensor panels, radiation-converting materials, low-noise analog, and high-speed digital electronics, custom ASIC control, processing electronics, and compact packaging.
Varex Imaging X-ray detectors provide:
• Dynamic Usage: providing fluoroscopy and radiography in one package
• High-quality Images: low-noise, high frame rates, and high resolution
• Easy-Integration: software allows for easy integration into any OEM system
