Ultra High Speed Detectors

Why settle for 100 when you can have 1000?

How Do THOR 10G Detectors Work?

THOR 10G detectors combine high speed photon counting pixels with advanced high speed internal data buses, and finally 10G network adapters to enable maximum framerates.

The 100um photon counting pixels count x-ray events in the microsecond timescale.

Each THOR module collects and analyzes xray image data from its array of 256×256 photon counting pixels – at up to 1000fps.

With 10G connectivity, the vast amounts of data are streamed out reliably to the customer’s workstations.

Advantages for Varex Imaging Customers

Technology at The Heart of THOR

Started in 1997, Varex photon counting technology is the culmination of 30 years of innoavtion and development.
The 100um pixels are able to detect individual x-ray events with incredible speed, and determine the keV level of the xray.

Manufacturing of the so-called hybrids, involves complex combination of the sensor material onto a CMOS wafer, done in-house at Varex laboratories.

Assembly of the hybrids into TDI or THOR detectors, and testing – completed in Helsinki, FI.
